Bill Mattinson - Backmask [slapmp3_007]
Slapart ran across this Alabama native at Mike Berks now defunct ThinkTank party. Like Berks "idiom neutral reformed" (slapmp3_oo4), this release gets its hands dirty equally with both pop and experiment. While Mattinsons programming leans a bit more towards Top 40 tendencies, "backmask" is a solid album-length (2314") mp3 release from an up-and-coming Brooklyn producer. Fans of cut-up and orchestral electronics (Aphex Twin, Mum) wont be disappointed.

I bought this other album, sounded just like this album. I took it back and told them about the copyright infringement. They sent me away. I accused the rock star. He told me to sit on it. I found the keyboard. I played the stock sounds. I played the hits. I made myself famous. I ruled the world. I slept with whomever I wished, whenever I wished. And now I hear of this new album. I want to be that guy. Before he's even himself. I'm better than everyone else. And somehow, I don't remember my family name anymore.
Peak/decline lets Cage take some mushrooms with kids again, like a winner collecting welfare.
